Sing for Charity, a fundraising concert, held on Family day, at Cousin Vinny's Restaurant & Bar in the Hanmer Shopping Mall, was a smashing success and raised just under one thousand dollars. All funds raised were donated to Action Sudbury: Citizens against impaired driving, and will remain in the community to be used to fight impaired driving!
In light of the number of recent DUI charges, action Sudbury remains committed to educating the public and eliminating the tragedies cause by impaired driving. Action Sudbury will used the $902.86 raised at the Sing for Charity event to sponsor a RIDE check by Greater Sudbury Police.
Action Sudbury is a non-profit community organization comprised of individuals and agencies with a common goal to eliminate the tragedies caused by impaired drivers in the Sudbury Area. This volunteer group was formed in 1984 by the efforts of the late Mayor Peter Wong. Peter Wong, Past Chair of Action Sudbury was involved with the initiation of the Ontario Community Council on Impaired Driving (O.C.C.I.D.). Action Sudbury continues to fulfill its mandate, under its current Chair Ron Roy. Action Sudbury is celebrating 27 years of serving our community, and reducing the tragedies caused by impaired driving within our community!
Action Sudbury would like to thanks all those who came out to Sing for Charity and showed their support. On this family day holiday, local artists and community members gathered under one roof for a good cause, reducing the tragedies caused by impaired driving within our community.
This full day event had a little something for everyone in the family to enjoy, from great live music, to delicious food and fun activities for the kids.
